Patrol

The Patrol Division consisting of uniformed officers is considered the backbone of the police department. The Division responds to thousands of calls for service throughout the year. The officers serve the borough residents 24 hours a day 365 days a year handling crimes in progress, disorderly persons offenses, civil disputes, quality of life issues, emergencies and first aid calls. In addition, they conduct proactive patrols responsible for criminal interdiction and traffic enforcement. The primary mission of patrol is to serve and protect the citizens and property of Seaside Heights while maintaining a positive quality of life for all the residents.

The Patrol Division uses bicycles for patrol during the height of the tourism season. Bicycles provide a more mobile and highly visible police presence while affording officers a quicker response to a calls for service.

The Patrol Division also relies heavily on police foot patrol during the height of the tourism season. Strategically assigned foot patrols on the Boardwalk and adjoining Ocean Terrace provides a much safer environment for visitors so they can enjoy the attractions in Seaside Heights.

Seasonally, the department adds a number of Special Law Enforcement Officers, Class I and Class II, to bolster the ranks of the Patrol Division. These officers work primarily during the summer months.
